Clarity (Transparency + Communication)

Communicate openly, directly, and clearly. Say things as they are. No politics.

Clarity is power.

Examples:

• Make information available throughout the company, unless it is overly sensitive or spam/junk. For example, everyone can see each others’ calendar, can see decisions being made all the way to leadership level, and see company metrics.
• Say things directly, not behind someone’s back.
• Lean into ‘difficult conversations’.
• Don’t lie or hide things.
• Use the Pyramid Technique to start with the punchline and deliver more details only if required.

• Leverage asynchronous communication — Looms, emails, and written docs — to keep everyone aligned.
• Overcompensate for communicating with team members in other time zones.
• Take notes in meetings and make them available throughout the company.
